my photography isnt up to par.Folks, i dont do much landscape or cityscape type of photography but i went to Glasgow the other nightto try it out.Now although i like the scenery my photography isnt up to par. What i want to know for the next time is how do i deal with the spotlights on the Armadillo as they are burnt out on the image.I tried various things but all left me with more to do in photoshop and im trying to get as close as possible to getting it correct in camera..So how would deal with the issue--take multiply exposure/bracketing?

I tackle such scenes by using a graduated filter but reversed so the black bit is at the bottom. This reduces the likelihood of the lights completely blowing and enables a fair bit of colour in the sky. A two stop grad is what I use for night photography.
