Any one ID this bird for me please, shot over at Flamborough, East Coast. I must just be missing it, I've looked in mi Collins Guide and can't seem to match it to owt:confused:

I originally thought Corn Bunting but it had a darK beak and in the book a Corn Bunting's looks yellow.

It was about the size of a Sparrow and very flighty, but managed a couple of quick shots, cheers

Never seen a Corn Bunting before but your comments about colouring made me think of a Juvie and the few googled images of a juvenile Corn Bunting do look somewhat like your images.

Hth :)

Try looking under Linnet :)

You could be right, female looking at it (y) :) That might be why I couldn't spot it in the book, it shows a male with a red fore-head and red breast :p cheers :D

Goes and looks up Linnet (another bird I have yet to see)
