Hi guys just a few from tuesday night, quite a few people are wanting "portraits" at the moment, hence some of the close ups. But....CC welcome. :)

#1 - Ben, this photo is a bit noisy I am aware of that. I have also done this image in black and white, to see if it "looks" good. I have yet undecided.

You luckys so and so
I have been wanting to spend a night getting some Hockey pics for years and years... I even contacted 3 different clubs with various emails going back and forth to no avail

so how did you manage to do it????? (jealous as hell)

some of these are noisy... but I guess the lighting is not great etc, good job well done
cheers Chris

I photograph an amature icehockey team at Ice Sheffield. I generally go [when I can] to Tuesdays and Thursday nights.
Im using my sigma 70-300 at f4-5.6 generally wide open with an iso around 800-1600. And I now shoot handheld too.
If you dont have a high ISO, it compromises on your shutterspeed, and then you just get super blurry photos.
How I managed to go and photograph the Hockey was, I met this guy at my friends wedding [who plays on the teams] and we got talking, and I said I wanted to go shoot Ice Hockey [after he told me he played] and voila! He asks, I go down...and thats done!

Age old saying, its not what you know its who you know. :)

And I can take other togs with me :D
