Never seen a dove like this before. Snapped by my wife (on a little point-and-shoot) whilst sat outside the local pub. I got a bit excited with the thought that it could be a turtle dove, but they are not known in Scotland. Probably some sort of domesticated hybrid, but it wasn't tame enough to be approached. I'm no expert on this type of bird, so I wonder if anyone can shed any light please? :confused:

Not a turtle dove but a pretty little thing, no idea what it is except it might be, as you said, a bred fancy bird. Or lost, really lost.
 
Common (or uncommon in this instance?) Bronzewing? Native of Australia but they are in the uk from the pet trade.

Thank-You very much! That would certainly appear to fit the bill with this one. I have a very knowledgable friend who was stumped by this, even with his 'Illustrated Checklist of Birds of the World (vol1)'. :eek:
