One of my files in Adobe Illustrator 2017 showed me next: Can’t open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal operand. I tried to open it again, the error repeated. Does someone know recovery format ai data?
 
You could try to open it it with Inkscape. Inkscape can import .ai files and export as .pdf and .eps etc. Which might give you another chance with the damaged file.

Inkscape is a free and open source vector illustration program.

Adobe has very effective tech support team. You may refer to them on official community. In the case they cannot aid, I would advise https://illustrator.recoverytoolbox.com/
