It was a case of step back and get a bit more of the perch in shot ,or gamble take the shot then step back in hope of getting another chance,

It doesn't need any more perch - it's all about the bird. I like not just the seed in its beak but the pose, standing with the wings slightly down, and the way it seems to be eyeing you up so you've caught the colour in the eye.

Yep, great shot Den, agree with Jan, there's enough perch showing, its a great stance/pose with the head turned, looking slightly back, works very well

Can't help wondering if it might've been worth cropping the top a slight bit to remove the dark colour, at the top left?
