Just for fun: boy catching egg

From Clavering fete's egg throwing contest at the weekend. The framing is a bit wangy but the moment was too good not to share!

I think you nailed it there, composition is a bit heavy towards the LH side, background is busy (but the look on the lady's face is fabulous), and as for timing -well, that's cracking! (Sorry).

I did try a crop which removed the woman and focused on the egg but it lost a lot of charm and context. There were about 40 pairs of people chucking eggs to one another, getting gradually further apart. This was one of the semi-finalists.

No the timing is late. We can't see the egg. We need to see it just before he catches it.

Really? I've got loads of shots of eggs in flight - though admittedly none in the last few centimetres before the catch - and they were all less interesting than this one IMO.
This shot is partly made by the woman's response to the catch & mess.

I think its a corker too Simon. Just enough depth of field that you can see other people looking down the course too. Helps to tell the story. And timing and focus looks spot on. The only way it could have been better is if his arm was covering less of his face,but hardly something you can control or plan for.
