Beginner Just testing a new Lens, and not an insect in sight!

New lens arrived today, spent more time fiddling with the flash!

Not the right weather to play outside, so quick poke around the house looking for something interesting.

Are you diffusing the flash?

Do you have any initial thoughts about the 100mm macro?

(Nice dogs btw. I thought the in flight parachute jump is rather good too. Don't think you'd catch me doing that, let alone taking photos while doing it.))

Yeah, got a diffuser on my flash, but it's probably better for portraits than macro. I need to have a look at making something more suited to close up work. I got a small light box kicking around so I'll dig that out over the weekend and see how that looks although it's not going to help when out and about.

So far, very happy with the lens, it seems far better than the Sigma 105mm I had some years ago on my old Sony A100. Some of that could be the Camera is better and it's nice that it doesn't double in length when getting in close!

You wouldn't catch me jumping out of a plane either so I can't take any credit for the in fight shot, the ground shots are mine though ;-)

You can see the light reflected in the water drops on this one. You can see the bright patch at the top of the diffuser, probably due to the way I frigged it to point down and not out.

I think you will always get reflections of the flash from water droplets no matter what diffusion you use.
