Juv Ruff?

Again, another one from Rossall Beach. Think its a Juvenile Ruff?

Could well be, I have to be honest some of these waders are so similar that I find iD quite difficult ... looks good in #1 but the OOF foreground rock in #2 is a great shame

are the birds over-sharpened Lee - the second image almost looks 3D

and the processing around the bird looks strange

Good opportunity though and images that you can do more with???

Yes, it looks like a ruff.

In the second one particularly the bird looks like a cut-out nailed to the ground. I'm sure it isn't, but it looks pretty odd!

Ey Up, Lee...your bird is a Knot, probably a 1st Winter bird.

First image is a Belter, great detail coming through in that plumage.

You could be right about the ID, Andy. But juv knot and juv ruff look so similar!

I think it would be a good ID challenge for really experienced birders.

I'll start it off with the easiest ways to tell them apart

The legs in the shot are way too short for the bird to be a Ruff.

The Supercilium is much more prominent in the Knot, as you can see in the shot.
