Is there any half decent places where i might catch a glimpse of this beautiful bird in Scotland?
 
In the green areas is the best chance.

It looks like they don't like Scotland at all.

Yes that is where it is a resident all year round apparently.

Perhaps check if there is a bird watching club near you somewhere.

Those guys go out of their way to find different birds and may know of a good place to try.
 
We used to get them at Spynie bird hide in north east Scotland (Lossiemouth) around August/September time.
 
They are all over Chris.
At rspb Loch Leven you can get decent pics from the first hide.
River Kelvin in Glasgow appears to be a good place ( never been myself ).
