A first sighting of one of these for me and its fairly common bird too.

This one is just loosing its summer plumage.

I like how the colour of the bird blends in with its habitat so well. The second edges the first with the feeding behaviour and a better angle of the head.
 
Lovely colours, similarly I haven't seen one so close ... 2nd exposure looks better :)

Great shot..I'll go a step further than these guys and say I've never seen one, so I'm jealous.

Thanks Chris, it was a new one on me too.

I took this over at Flamborough on Saturday. There were quite a few came in, talking to the birders over there, a fairly common and can be seen from now until spring.
