Ladybird in the garden

I think if that 2nd shot was in focus, it would be a cracker of a photo.

Focus seems to be in front on the first and behind on the 2nd, have you tried manually focussing ? Macro is a great way of getting your hand held focus shots nice and sharp without relying on the camera as it tends to not focus on what you actually aiming for.
You can always pre-focus and then lean in/out to bring your subject into alignment with the focus range.

Good eye for spotting it though (y) - practice and more practice and you'll have some very nice shots to display. Look forward to seeing more Paul

Thanks for the advice, this was manual focus, my problem at the moment is the only lens I have is just a tamron 18-200, my kit lens is at the bottom of the Irish Sea when I was taking pictures of dolphins riding the bow wave of my other half's dad's boat. Lol. I'm still trying to get the focus dead on, would you recommend keeping glasses on and shooting or adjusting viewfinder?
