That's a nice shot Jonathan, showing some good detail.

IMHO maybe a crop from the right would improve the composition.

Looks nice but wondering whether increasing the aperture a bit more and moving a bit closer, would have got the entire bug in focus.

I like the fact only its face is in focus on this one and also like the contrast between the Orange/Red against the green bokeh background

I agree. A bit off the right and some off the bottom would improve the composition. I would try and avoid a square crop as, for me, they just dont look right. I would also try toning down the highlights to bring back some of the color to the face.

Renu, depth of field in macro is always a problem and even stopping down the aperture to F16 or greater wouldn't have given enough depth of field and you begin to suffer from diffraction. You would need to focus-stack to get the whole ladybird in focus.
