The sky was quite dramatic anyway with big cumulus clouds lit by the afternoon sun, but I tend to like adding additional contrast and definition to the skies in my shots - especially those shot on mostly cloudy days. It's not intended to communicate anything in particular, it's just a style that I like personally.

To my taste, dramatic clouds in a scenery are
a pleasure for the eye but as long as it stay part
of the image… but should always be credible-

…though I would have done the focus in the middle
to illustrate it working both ways: front and back!

The front tiles are out of focus...
 
But then the main word 'depth' would be out (or partly) of focus...



Yes… but as I thought, there would be on a linear plane
the front and back as well… was just an idea!
