Thanks Rich - what I have found, (for me) is that you need to be sure the settings in the camera allow you the latitude in pp to get the detail in the whites, if you blow the whites in camera there is no going back
I agree Daniel, the image is flat and lacks DR - I suppose the work flow would be to mask the bird, work on the bird and then invert the mask and work on the bg?
I am just going through and deleting some old images that I passed by as non keepers and analysing them
2nd stage - masked with bg work
(the whites in the following posted on here are just less vibrant than the image in LR - never sure why - one image is at 80k, the other at 300k and one exported as proPhotoRGB, the other 2 at sRGB)
