1st ensure that you make homage to the stumps, appealing for a long innings.

Don't really do cricket but went along to the local club with the D500 + 300 f4 PF to see what I could get.
The 300mm was a bit too much reach hence not getting all of the keeper in ... nevertheless a useful exercise :)
 
I know that feeling about reach. Yesterday my local club played on a different wicket which made their boundary rope shorter in some places, longer in others. As a result the usual angles I shoot from gave me problems especially with the cluttered back ground furniture.

Yep, the pitch seemed to have been moved nearer the clubhouse since I was last there, will take a couple of lenses next time :)
