Lovely shots MJ,, That Cranefly is the best of the bunch but I do have a liking for the Weevil.

Could I be a little nosy and ask about your lens and lighting set up.
Did you use a reversing lens adapter?

Sure - I have a sigma 105mm which is good for Macros of larger insects, grass hoppers, hoverflies, bees, bluebottles etc. For anything really small (sub 4mm) or extreme closeups of the less flighty bigger insects I then add on a large Kenco extension tube and sometimes also include a Raynox 250 add on lens.

The key to achieving good results is moving the flash close to the end of the lens and diffusing the hell out of it. For this I have a cheap bracket and extension cable with a home made ice cream tub diffuser. See this thread: Show us your macro rig
