Congrats on seeing this image in the first place.
I look at it as Man v Nature, and in this case, Man is surrendering in raising his arms.
Also, a great use of space in the elements.
Stark, contrasty tones hit the spot for me too.
I find the inner border 'holds' the picture well, although I may have perhaps opted for a further black outer border too.
