I have just discovered that I have focus stacking software - in Affinity Photo - so I have been trying it out. My subject is a couple of lichens that I just happen to have lying around (both Cladonia species). I appreciate that this photo is lacking in a number of ways, but as my first attempt, working entirely by guesswork, I am quite pleased. The first photo is a straight photo of the centre of the cluster, the second photo is the stack.

I was very space restricted today - no possibility of artificial light - but tomorrow I get the house to myself for about six hours so I shall have another play. Hopefully, get better pictures.

I use Affinity pro for stacks, and really enjoy it. I have wondered about buying a slide, but haven’t used one yet, I just take as many images as possible, changing focus very slightly either focussing from rear of subject to front or vice versa. I do find it a very interesting part of photography and processing
