These fairly rare orchids are just appearing on our local nature reserve, this spike is about 4 inches high.

Orchids now showing up near me ... really like capture #1 but #2 is a bit confused in its composition.
 
Thanks. I want to try No.1 again with wider aperture and focus stacked but have to wait for the light because the backlighting makes it. I have tried it under different lighting conditions with a backcloth to eliminate background clutter and though it ticks the typical camera club judge's criteria of sharp all over and nice smooth background I think it lacks life and sparkle.

I take your point about No,2 but without stripping the stem its a little hard to see how I can isolate an individual 'man'. I'll try again on a more mature plant which will have the flowers more separated..
