This beauty has been hiding 5 min walk from my front door. This is attempt 1 and I feel like I am gonna spend a lot of time with this guy! :)

Feedback welcome. My own critique is....

I hate the hedge. How to mitigate?

Should I have used a shallow depth of field to really lose the barebones non existent foreground?

And lighting - took this around midday. Obviously this time of year the sun is lower so it's still possible to get nice ish light.

Composition is obviously basic AF but felt right.

I like it a lot.

You ask 50 people and they may all come up with different suggestions which are 'their' way. You have captured it the way you like it.

For me, it works. It looks superb.

With you saying you don't like the hedge, is there potential for using any undulations in the foreground / keeping the camera low to get a shoot of the tree without the hedge?

Hedge might be too close to the tree for that to work though without cutting off too much of the lower trunk perhaps...

Will try it next time. Will find a way :) Or another tree!

If you have PS or similar could could try the remove tool on the hedge.

I like the photo as it is. I am far from being an expert but a few comments:

Is it level? (Perhaps it is naturally on a slight incline)

I would probably prefer a different sky. There a lot of difference between the left and right.

The horizon is off but my in camera spirit level was level so I didn't adjust.

RE the Sky. That's gonna be what takes this photo in so many different directions, can't wait lol.

Is there another angle that would make the hedge less of an issue?
For example, if you move a way to the right, then use the hedge as a leading line from the bottom right corner of frame to the tree? IE make a feature.
Alternatively can you move to the other side of the hedge or tree so it's less prominent ?
It looks like it's in a field so your access and shooting options may be quite limited.
Different times of year will also bring different looks to both the hedge and tree.

I like this a lot. I don't do landscapes much anymore but this right up my alley. As far as critique goes... it sort of looks off-centre but not in the right way. I would have placed it either dead centre or in the left or right third (rule of thirds). Possibly also a shot right into the sun would look nice too.

Leave the hedge. Looks good to me.
