I hate to say it Steve, but they aren't really working for me despite the lovely colours. I wonder if it's a relative lack of context for what should otherwise be a spectacular bit of mountain.

Don't hate to say or think it - I get these will be an acquired taste for sure. I like 'em but not everyone will.

Composition, crop, colours, fine; could the sky (in both) do with a bit more contrast?

I quite like them. I think the stronger shadows in the first add interest. I like the colour of the second though.
