My first attempt at getting a shot of the milky way, i had already been out in mid cheshire to try to get a shot of the milky way twice but there is just too much light pollution, that and only owning the 24-120 f4 lens.

So i decided to drive just over 100 miles to the south stack on Anglesey to try my luck.

The first photo is 16 shots stacked in sequator and then heavily (overly) edited to try to get the small part of the milky way i managed to capture to stand out.
The second is 4 shots stacked in sequator, not so much editing was required in this photo, the lighting on the tower is from the lighthouse off to the right.

The milky way wasnt really visible to the naked eye because of the light pollution you can see on the bottom left and also due to the haze.

For anyone interested in astro photography have a look at Alyn wallace on youtube, he has some good info that will be helpful.
