Just added the camera settings, so what you opinions guys, tips reconmendations on settings.

Not bad. Try to get the whole car in the frame if you can. Front quarter shots are hard. I took around 400 yesterday, and only one came out perfectly. The problem is I think, that at that angle the front and the back of the car re moving at different speeds relative to you. This makes panning very difficult and faster shutter speeds are often necessary.

Thanks I know what you mean Joe, i struggled to get the whole car shots due to not be able to pick them up early enough due to crowds getting the in the way. did better on the Satheres a few more of the other cars running Sat.

I really wish i had a manuel focus system i could adjust while panning.

Its in the exif - Dimage Z5.

Funny when i look at a series like that and see a couple of cars facing the other way it just seems wrong

Not the best for this but, pretty good camera, but not upto a real SLR, got it for £170 didnt want to spend a fortune as i never used a camera before the start off the racing season.

edit Robert beat me to it. lol although i have a 2x teleconverter lens and a skylight filter and hood.

i see your point about the car directions lol.
Thanks about the panning,had alot off practice with tracking training with long range fire arms.

Cars look best going from left to right. Its just one of those things. Shame its not always so easy to get that in practice.

Me too, I used to use a Dimage 7i for the motocross and it was really hard to get anything decent, these are good

Thanks guys, hoping that father Christmas my bring a DSLR for Christmas for next years racing season.

Its a bit fiddly adjusting the settings all the time for varying light conditions to get the right exposures, but i think the fully manual route is starting to produce some better pictures.

Having the 2x teleconverter helps to as on full zoom the image can be come grainy, with the lens fitted you can get closer on less zoom.

You might want to turn the digital zoom off, this makes the image grainy as it is not using the lens optics to zoom

Good shots though. Although I'd probably up the ISO and try to shoot nearer 1/320th for the 3/4 shots.

I never use the Digital zoom, like you say its very poor.

But thanks shall bear the other comments in mind for the weekend, i kept th ISO low as ther appeared grainy on the LSD veiwer, shall experiment a bit more.
