Yes
I bought a Centon MR20 Macro Ring Flash off the bay, around £15. 4-6 volts on the trigger so ok with modern cameras.
It arrived at lunchtime so I took it out with the Raynox attached to the 40-150 "plastic fantastic" lens.
Set it on auto and added a couple of stops, it looks like a bargain to me, especially with the breeze waving the leaves around.

Seems ok yes and you got some fine detail there but a profile shot would have been better I think although I know not always possible.

Here's a photo of it, attached to the Oly 40-150 zoom and Raynox 250

A flash does not need to be expensive to work well.
How do you find the Pen F?

I can see how that would be an improvement.
Did you have to adjust your settings after fitting your high tech light guide?
I suspect a bit of gaffer tape to hold it in place might prevent it getting knocked :)

Maybe I should dig out my old ring flash & try the same technique.
