Nikon D750 & D780

I'm really enjoying the AF performance of the D750. Very reassuring to know that when the children are on form and the house lights are not bright, I can still grab this camera and it's focuses with rifle bolt precision. Far less moments missed. :)

The D750 almost focuses in the dark. But not pitch black. I was in need of a chocolate fix so I went to the petrol station and took the camera and my 50/1.8. Loadsa light in the first one, not so much in the second. I feel a project coming on. :)

So I lash out on a genuine eye cup and what do I find a few days later hiding under a load of rubbish in my car? Still, I have a spare now, which means I'll never have one come adrift ever again.

Getting a lot of use out of the flippy screen lately.

Hi all
I will be joining you lot next week :D as I'm going to get a 750 from Panamoz. Cannot believe I have been missing out on the noise levels of Nikon  all the time I have shot with Canon.

Just a quick question though, there are three options that I can get, Body only, £1080, Kit with 24-120 f4 G ED VR £1380, Kit with 24-85 f3.5-4.5 G ED VR £1395, which would be the better buy ?

I have no Nikon lenses at all so this will be my first sort of general walk around lens. I intend to get a Tamron 150-600 G2 next month for birding so I was thinking the 24-120 kit would give me a decent coverage for £300 more than the body only.

Another thing I have noticed that the 24-120 sells for £1000 at Jessops  is it the exact same lens ??? the images look identical, but is the kit lens a lesser quality than the £1000 version?

There's only the one 24-120/f4. (y) Both lenses are good (the 24-85 is lighter and smaller - obvs), so pick the one you fancy most.

You might have to change your username now.:giggle:

Welcome to the D750 thread, as above you need to check what focal length you want or what you shoot. I would get the 24-120 and see how you get on.

Apparently the 24-120 is a decent lens and obs if you're lucky and get a perfect match with camera and lens you won't look back.
Oh and welcome.

Thanks guys,
Was just wondering why the 24-120 kit lens works out less than half the price of the lens on its own.

Was a bit dubious going for a 4 year old model camera but all the reviews, images and what it is capable of twisted my arm. Looks like an ideal all round camera.

I wouldn't worry about it, I traded in my Sony mirrorless gear to go back to Nikon with the D750 and haven't regretted it one bit. AF-C and low light ability is superb.

So the 24-120mm f4 kit is cheaper than the 24-85mm kit? The 24-120mm f4 is the better lens overall, and yes it does sell for £1000 in the UK, which tbh is crazily overpriced. Don’t get me wrong the 24-120mm f4 is a nice lens and I was always happy with mine, but a £1000 it is not imo. £500 would be a more reasonable price, so £300 is a bit of a bargain.

People get blind sighted by new tech, a great camera doesn’t suddenly become a bad camera just because there’s newer ones out there. Plus the D750 is still Nikon’s current D7xx camera. It’s a great camera and that’s all there is to it ;)

Well the Camera is ordered, I finally decided to go body only and have also got a 50mm f1.8 G for a general purpose low light lens and add an 85 f1.8 later.

Anyone using the camera with a Tamron 150-600 G2 or the Nikon 200-500 VR ????? I have my eye on a couple of minty ones at MPB and LCE and they will take some of my Canon gear in as part ex to offset the cost. The Nikon is appealing as I know it will be fully compatible, the Tamron though has that little bit extra reach for birds and such, what are your thoughts.

I've not had the G2 but I had the G1 Tamron 150-600mm and rated it highly. From the research that I did the Tamron was supposedly sharper at the long end than the Nikon (although never had the Nikon to compare) plus you got more reach. Also, if the Tamron was supposedly a smidge sharper at the long end then it most certainly will have been at 550mm as the Tamron is noticeably sharper at 550mm than 600mm. Also the Tamron was cheaper and lighter so was a no brainer for me. I'm not sure what you mean about the Nikon being fully compatible though, as the Tamron was also fully compatible.

Hi all, long time that I have not posted anything here photo wise, well I dusted off the D750 and went to the coast as I could see some nice soft airy clouds.
Does 500PX have a BB code like flickr, I don`t see one.

I've since found out i need to copy the html code into a html to bb code converter then copy and paste into here.

Due to job issues with teh other half we may need to free up some funds so if that happens I might be coming back to a D750.

Thanks @trevorbray, appreciate the comment. I'm fighting off Z6/7 GAS at the moment. Your fault obviously
Maybe hold off and see what the other newbies will be like when they release the specs in afew months.

Had mine for a couple of days now, first impressions are its great. There are a couple of niggely things that I have to work around coming from a Canon but on the whole I think this is a definite "upgrade" from my previous camera which was released two years after the D750.

Exactly what I'm trying to do. Might cure my GAS and buy a D700 in the meantime.
Do you really need another Camera ? If not, save ya pennies.

What are we looking at for used prices now for decent condition gear? D750... £750? 70-200... £1000... 50mm.. £120 as a rough guess???

That’s about right mate.

Sorry hear about this but d750 is still a cracking camera as you know [emoji1303]

Not 100% anyway - was just bouncing figures around in my head!
