No
Deep in the corners of my camera closet, sits a Nikon F3 & Md4 motordrive.
I bought this from new years ago and it has served me well.
However, i am getting old and have moved to digital now.

Its a shame for it to sit and grow old all alone there and i think it would love to be in the hands of a new, aspiring photog.

You must realise that this is a 35mm camera, not a digital camera.

So....................

I am going to give it away to someone who would benefit from using it to its full potential. If you are a total newbie to photography, it probally wont go to you. However, if you have been shooting 35mm for some time and now find you would like to move onto a better camera, then this is your chance.

Not sure yet how i am going to go about this, but thought i would just let you all know :)

Hopefully TP admin will come up with an idea :)

I have permission from digitalfailure to post this message.
P.S., pls do-not Pm me asking for it, as a refusal offen offends :)

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!
I am so sorry, i went to get the camera out today to take some shots of it, to find my 18 yo son has given it to his mate for college. He did ask me some time ago, but i forgot. I would like to apoligise to all that feel i have misled them. I will now give away a Nikkor 24-120 AF -D lens in its place. Please see my thread with pics (to prove i still have it!) further down

Sounds like a great idea - although my digital gear is all Nikon, I do my 35mm stuff with an Olympus:)

I'm sure the lucky recipient, by whatever means you choose will be getting a cracking camera (I know of the F3's quality by word-of-mouth!). Much kudos to you!

GWP,

I would happily give it a home!

I have been into photography since my early teens (now 38) and have in the last couple of years got into digital.

I have however missed my FM2 as I sold it and some great lenses to pay for an EOS5 a few years ago.

I not sure what came over me the other day but I visited a camera shop and bought a FE2 and decided to go retro. I am now trawling ebay etc for some cheap lenses!

I would happily give the F3 a happy home as I now want to back into film (oh my god!) I also want to dig out my processing gear (getting really worried now!)

Look forward to hearing from you!

John

Could you keep me informed on the camera situation and how you decide who the lucky new owner will be.
I am currently using a very old Zenit, and would love to upgrade.

That is one awesome bit of kit for some lucky new owner!

It's a combination I have - but I wouldn't part with it for the world!

Been looking at these for a while and seem like suchhhhhhhhh a nice camera and with a grip as well!!!! Pure porn right there!!!!

I started off with a Nikon FM2 and it's such a nice starter camera, however I've been looking at something a bit more special.

Also I'm a Nikon owner so she would be wellcome in the family :)

Thats all I have to say.............

I'd be interested. I'm getting back into shooting 35mm again, "grew up" wanting a nikon slr, but only had minolta and mamiya when i started working, while i was at college.

I'm a nikon guy now (no flame throwing from the rest of you) so it would definitely get used :D

hey i'm starting a photojournalism course soon and need a film camera as part of that. Im also a bit low on funds due to uni and my recent d200 purchase! I would be very interested, also it could couple with the Nikon lenses i already have!

Thanks for such a generous offer!

Russ

Well that is a generous offer, can I add my name to the list of hopefuls, I have been looking for a 35mm camera to replace mine as it has broken. I only tend to use the 35mm for shooting slides for camera club competitions and slide battles.

I'd love to have an opportunity to win an F3. I haven't had much experience with film but I'm extremely interested in shooting slide film and using all the old AiS glass available to me.

I would be able to house the F3 and provide it with weekly use. I work as a full time photographer and utilize both mediums (digital & 35mm). The majority of 35mm work is shot on Fuji Neopan and Fuji Reala 100 film. At present I use a Nikon F80 and have been looking at the F6 to accompany my newly ordered D3. Though, if the F3 was to come this way it would be used instead of an F6. Either way the majority of experienced photographers on here would appreciate it.

the "deal" is that once enough *** have seen this post, somehow i or admin will choose who gets it.

I have absolutely no use for the camera and would sell it straight away on eBay. Do I get it?

Seriously, a very kind offer and a great camera for whoever gets it.

I would be very interesting in this item as it would save me spending the hard earned on one in the next couple of months.

Well, I do not want it, but have to say that there are not many posts that would make me want to give it away - how about some honesty, conviction and PASSION - the man is trying to give you a camera and motordrive and all I see are two line replies saying Can I have it please - for me, the winner so far is snake man, for his honesty !

I thought I was quite honest!

I've been looking at this camera for over month maybe more. When I was first getting into photography I really wanted this camera but didn't have the cash to have one. Therefore it would really make my day (year  )
I have many lenses which this camera could have as well :)

I was not picking on you or anyone in particular, but if I was going for something that was being given away, a little effort would not go amiss - some 20 line essay might sway me more that a 'me please' reply - not saying that yours was, but....
I gave away something once on this forum and got a long begging PM that was over the top enough to feel that the poster had earned the freebie and that it would be a pleasure to give it to the guy..
gwp - you are clearly a generous person, and i hope your camera finds a good home !

Dear gwp,
I note you are offering a nikon camera free to a good home. Sadly, I do not have a good home, nor do I want to give it a good home, but I would like to capitalize on your kindness by taking it off your hands so I can sell it on via ebay for a profit. Now, you may be wondering why I am being so honest. As a natural-born salesman (see my thread about some photobox credits for proof) you can believe every word I say, and recently, I have fallen on hard times. Allow me to explain.
Last week I was outside Jessops in Basildon, and while running across the road to help a little old lady who had dropped her last penny I was hit by a 12 year old drunken hoodie driving a stolen car. I suffered multiple injuries, my trousers were torn and my confidence was dented. As I sat waiting for help, the little old lady took my wallet and keys, went round to my house, stole my left-over fish supper and my sick wife (every cloud and all that) though she did leave my child. I hobbled home to discover my child had just drunk the last bottle of meths, leaving me with nothing. To help ward off the cold, I lit a match, but sadly, my child was too close, and she combusted, setting fire to the rest of the house. I tried to rescue the few remaining valuables, but only managed to save my letterbox and the picture of my beloved old camera, a Nikon F3 and MD4 that I had sold many years ago on ebay to help pay for my dogs vet fees (sadly both the vet and dog died ).
Then just this very morning, a letter arrived through the letterbox telling me that if I could get to Jessops in Basildon by next Thursday, I would be presented with a free camera as a reward for my gallant actions helping an old lady across the road (unbeknown to me, my picture had been taken just before the moment of impact ).
So, if you could just help me out here with your kind offer, I would then be able to raise the funds so that I can collect my reward.
Yours in anticipation, and with the letterbox held open

Honest Jon

I'd put it in a glass case and use it as a mantle piece ornament.
Or bang a few nails in with it.
Or stop my car rolling off the drive with it.
Or let my daughter destroy it for her college work.
Or see if I can still get the chemistry for slide processing.

To be honest you'd be better off ebaying it.
At least you know someone is getting it because they really want it.

I would love that camera!

Though I should be honest. I don't need it, and would probably not do it as much justice as some others on here. Have been shooting film since the age of 16, so somewhere around 7 years on and off. Though, I have an F80 already, so there are more deserving people than I. Best of luck to who ever gets it :)

May I suggest the OP donates the kit to his local college, on the assumption they teach photography and envisage using film for some time to come?

If it's still up for grabs I'd be interested...it'll go nicely with my F5 and Leica M6...it'd be nice to use some of my old manual lenses again...stick a 35mm f/2 on and go walkabout...

This is my first post here (apart from my introduction) and I hope it'll help!

Much as I would LOVE the combo, I can't help feeling that the Disabled Photographers Society ( http://www.disabledphotographers.co.uk/ ) are a far more deserving cause than my bag. Not sure if they'll want film kit but it's probably worth giving them a call.

As you may have seen from my updated initial thread, My son has given the camera to his friend for college work. I did say he could, but that was ages ago and i had forgotten. It was only when i went to take some shots of it, i found this out. I am so sorry to all that think i have misled them.

However, i will give away this Nikkor 24 - 120mm AF - D lens instead.
I have never used it on a 35mm cameras before, so dont know if it will work. but i do know it works fine on any digital camera.

Here are a couple of pics of it (to prove i have it!)

So, same rules apply, but we now have to start form here, sorry.
All previous messages will not be taken into account (even Steveinspain's great message:) )

You have until 12 June 2008 to add yourself to the list, either for yourself or for any local college or club etc.

Again, my apologies for messing this all up.

Ideally, i would like to know why you feel you should have the lens, this doesn't just apply to lawless23456, but to everyone.
Also, you will be required to post back here that you have received the lens.

..and I spent hours composing my begging letter...!
Still, I guess you all have time now to come up with something that will entertain us until gwp makes his choice - I might just copy and paste my last message with a few changes to make it sound new...

As I said before, it is a wonderful offer to make, and may the most creative message win !

GWP why don't you donate it to a tour, like the nifty fifty tour? That's a very versatile lens focal length wise so I think it would be interesting to see what everyone could come up with :)

Just an idea.

Pete

As I posted before add me to the list, but I'm sure there are more needy people. Well done to you for doing this.

I wouldn't worry about it, I assume he's promised this to his Auntie and has yet to remember!

All I can say is that the DPS would be able to use that lens or at least find a deserving home for it!

Not sure where you are, gwp but maybe there's a member near you who could test the lens on a film body for you? I THINK it'll fit and work on AF and older MF bodies but I'm sure more knowledgeable people will be able to tell you more!
