Nikon Z* mirrorless

They would want to, in some cases their lenses are considerably more expensive than Efin, Fuji lenses for example - I'm seeing a pretty significant hike! more expensive than Amazon even, which makes no sense
I don't honestly know what panamoz are doing with their lenses at the moment, some crazy prices on there. Clearly you need to shop around. It's a shame HDEW don't do Nikon anymore.

Was only thinking similar recently, pity HDEW don't do Fuji! But if they did still do Nikon I would have considered the Z6, almost bought the one that went on here not long ago with the XQD and adapter. Because the cards alone are a turn off for the likes of me, no way I'd be having many spares :O

The cards get a lot of flack but they're actually no more expensive (in fact probably cheaper) than comparable UHS-II SD cards, the trouble is you can't get cheap slow ones.

They are still 3 times the price from what I see, 32GB cards are enough for me and even at that I'm seeing those in XQD for €100, in fact I could get 5 decent U-3 SD cards for same. Buying one is no bother, but when it comes to back ups the price difference is huge

As I see it, and correct me if I'm wrong, Sony almost have the monopoly on XQD cards at the moment. This is a bad thing.

£123 vs £125 and the XQD is 100mb/s faster

They do, Lexar have been promising to join the party for over a year but still nothing. It will be interesting to see what happens when CF express is finally released.

Vs £13: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ex...ndisk+sd+card&qid=1558685781&s=gateway&sr=8-5 :D

These cards are plenty fast enough for me, even for 4K video they are completely fine I have found.

Even UHS-II cards can be found easily for sale below £50. Just found a 64GB Lexar UHS-II for £17! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexar-Prof...card&qid=1558685956&s=computers&sr=1-13-spell

In fairness, even the great Amazon have been known to sell fakes.

Amazon has been full of grey, fakes and dodgies for a long time now. You just have to look into the actual stores before clicking to buy.

But that's my whole point, you're not comparing like for like. You're comparing 95mb/s with 400mb/s write speeds (y)

Argh, had notification from e-infinity that the 14-30 was in stock at 05:30 this morning but out of stock again already.
I must get up earlier!
:-/
Just think of the money you’re saving! By the time they’re in stock, the price will have tumbled.

What do I need anything close to that for? My whole point is based on my needs. XQD speeds are wasted on me and unnecessary as an only option. I wonder how much of that 400mb/s you actually get

I think we've had crossed wires somewhere. I agreed with you earlier about this, saying that that is the issue with XQD in that they don't have any cheap cards (y). The point that I was trying to make is that they are not over priced when compared to similar SD (y)

But they are. If I search I can find 300mb/s SD cards for £50, I was just showing some dirt cheap ones. Unless there XQD cards for little more than it seems like they're over priced. My original complaint about them was that buying one is fine, but I like having 3-4 cards as back up. Course that's for dual slot bodies :p

Where are you finding those, I could do with some faster ones?

You'd want more than 32GB though, that's what I'm looking at:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexar-Prof...uhsii+card&qid=1558698093&s=computers&sr=1-17
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Ex...=uhsii+card&qid=1558698161&s=computers&sr=1-9

Seen cheaper, have seen 64GB for not a whole lot more but will have to search a bit more later. Still half the cost of 32GB XQD. A 32GB card would last me days if I delete on the go, as I only shoot single shot stills.

Thanks, those 64gb ones are still quite a bit cheaper. When I looked on amazon the Sandisk ones were £123 for 64GB

Quick question, I have the viewfinder set to prioritze viewfinder. Is there then a button/way to make the output appear on the back screen, ala the LV button on a dSLR? Especially as I may want to briefly see the composition on a bigger screen?

I know there is the automatic mode which brings output up on the rear screen when you take your eye away, but nice to be able to make the choice.

Out of interest, is this lens able to use all of the Olympus features e.g. IBIS?

Panasonic lenses used on Olympus bodies can't take advantage of Dual IS (body and Lens combined), but to be honest, whether i use the IS on the lens (with the IS switch on) or IBIS of the body (with IS switch off), in my tests on my EM1X, they both seem to offer great stabilisation and look to be about the same as each other - and certainly good enough for my needs. Obviously you aren't going to be shooting sharp images at 1/2 second or more at 600mm equivalent focal length, but then you wouldn't' would you ?

so it is just the handling then?
Just been trying to downsize where possible. Olympus is now my wildlife and (most) sports camera so I don’t need top notch FPS from the Nikon, however there are still times when I prefer the output from FF so I’m not prepared to give it up completely (y)

I do like it, but feel that the amount of out-of-focus grass in the foreground is a little too distracting. The background is good.

Thank you...that was one of the issues I had with the photo. Thanks for confirming my thoughts :)

Another with the Konica Hexanon 57mm. Processed in Silver Efex Pro 2 based on the "024 Full Contrast and Structure" preset.

Wharfe at Linton by Stephen Lee, on Flickr

I love it....seems so full of detail. Any chance you remember what aperture you had the lens set to?
