Walked past the end of this street while en route to the station from a hotel: the hard-edged, bright modern building at the end of the street rather leaped out.

Mechelen seems an interesting city, and worth a visit for a couple of days when I have time.

Like the contrast between new and old, one of the more tasteful new buildings I've seen

Passed through Mechelen a few times on the train between Brussels and Antwerp, must get off and have a look around one day.

Thanks Shane. They have no problem placing very modern structures right in the middle of historic areas, though the contrast isn't always quite as clear as this. There's a lot of new buildings around the river/canal running through the middle of town.
