Met this gentleman at the Waterloo re-enactment in Belgium this June. He had been forced for health ( and insurance!) reasons to give up his life long hobby of battle re-enactments, so had researched what retired soldiers of that time did. he now attends events in the bivouacs ( camps) as a Chelsea Pensioner of the time. He was charming, enthusiastic and very happy to talk.
I'm unsure of my favourite edits of these photos, so have included 3, there are a couple more on my flickr.
This is my first post in P&P forum, but as ever any and all C&C welcome.

Out of the three, number 2 is definitely my favourite - cracking shot and very sharp. The crop is a bit too central and contrast is a touch high for me on number 3 and the darkness of the eyes on number 1 is a shame - obviously that's outside your control as it's shadow from the sun! Good captures, and well done - if it was me I'd be doing a BW conversion on number 2 for sure, with all that detail :) Nice shots.

Jim

Thanks for the feedback :)
I like no. 2, but don't like the blokes in jeans in background! I'll definitely try a B&W version of that one, good thinking.
Watch this space ;)

As suggested, quickly done, struggled slightly to get contrast as high as I'd like, while retaining details and light on eyes, however I also have a tendency to over process too.

Three very nice shots Jon, with some excellent detail. #2 would be my preference if I had to choose as I feel overall it is the nicest expression and I do like to see the eyes on these type of shots.(y)

George.

He looks a great character and you have captured him well. No3 for mee too but i woukd try and lift the shadows in his eyes a little
