Olympus OM-D E-M5, E-M1, E-M10 - Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3 Owners Thread

These are questions that need to be asked on Thursday , I presume the man in charge of the u.k part of Olympus will have a accurate answer .. he has verified that warranty repairs to Portugal have started again though paid for repairs will have to wait on a payment system coming online ..
If we as a country are having problems with covid and Brexit , I dread to think what problems a multi national company takeover is having in these times

Just tried to join the olympus forum and for some unknown reason was blocked.
So then decided to try the Olympus Camera website filled in the forms it won't recognise
My Gmail address.
I can't seem to win at the moment.

Got this email this morning.

Weird I just clicked on that link and got straight in , with a online assistant box to ?

Tried 4 different shops all quoting next year
Delivery Jeff. 2 of them I have been dealing with for years and I am on first names with the mangers. So they know I'm not prone to chopping and changing systems.
With the information available it looks like the production of this lens was woefully under estimated.
I'm guessing Covid has also caused the supply of parts to be an issue if they are outsourcing the parts.
Just put the questions re supply up to be asked on Thursday . Hold fire till then

Cheers Jeff will do.

Just spoke to a friend in the states he ordered in November he has been told they they will notify him when it's in but no date
Given.

Sorry Niko but that in all honesty doesn’t wash , you say your a M4/3rds fan ,yet you say you didn’t know that Olympus camera division had been taken over , yet you previously stated that you had read about Olympus cameras on a rumour site .. my initial response was along the lines of there still selling lenses etc and updating camera software .. your reply was no more cameras going forward ... and being under virtual house arrest due to country/age/health my response to your ....click bait.... was justified
Look lets agree to disagree on this lifes to short. But please re read my posts, i didnt even mention any rumor sites i only asked if they were still makeing cameras. Yes i could off googled it but i always thought this forum was friendly and helpful, i guess not.
I dont do keyboard warrior rubbish or click bait as you put it. I work in a hospital with really poorly people and havent seen anyone outside of work or been out for a year, because i am a risk to them, ive better things to do than post crap, it was a guninne question.
so lets just move on lifes to short,

O.k no problems mate ..I think every ones a bit techy at the moment

I read the other day that Sony may be making a new 30mp mft sensor for Olympus so that is good news as it would also mean a new camera too

Rob.

Saw on another forum that at least two people in the states are receiving their lenses at the end of this week.
At least proves some have been manufactured and are out and about in the world.

Male Siskin and a blue tit keeping a wary eye on me.. Really starting to enjoy the Olympus mark3 and 100-400. Any feedback regards composition, sharpness or post processing would be much appreciated. Any thoughts on editing software would also be appreciated, using a trial version of capture one at the moment, maybe Exposure X6 next. I would prefer to buy rather than subscription software.

Well straight from the horses mouth this morning supplies of the 150-400 should start to trickle in next week and the 100-400 shortly ( March) plus we have a teaser of a new body coming in 2022 .. that will compliment the 150-400 ..
It was also stated that things supply etc will take a estimated 6 months to settle down so patience is the key word ... Brexit on top of covid has caused glitches

I did say the other day that I had heard people in the States were getting deliveries end of this week.

I thought it was an excellent zoom and came away feeling quite reassured about the future - not that I was about to ditch my Olympus gear. So interesting to hear that the demand for the 150-400 was 3 times greater than expected. I think @RedRobin might be one of the lucky few for quite a while!

Looking good for robin as I believe he has ordered from Wex ,depends how many have pre ordered I suppose.. the rumour mill might be right about that new sensor though .. sounds extremely promising .. also like how they realise the wildlife potential of there gear.

Might hold fire on my grip rubber repair though given the red covid alert in Portugal .. don’t need my camera stuck at Dover in a whorehouse

Yes that was slightly disturbing wasn't it? I wouldn't be very happy having a long wait. When mine did go off under the Pro Service a couple of years ago, it was all serviced and back with me within a very short time - I think it was 3 days, but may have been 4.

Thanks for sharing the info about the zoom. Although I am signed up to that forum, I don't check in very often and would have missed it.

I would really like the 150-400 - was hoping to get it until I saw the price. Now if I do, it will be a long way in the future.

Thanks Jeff
At least we have been given some idea I'm going to be sceptical and order one and hope its with me in nine months and not the 6 they are quoting I shall be a happy man if I get it any time in between.
It beats the 12 months I had been quoted.
Means I will have it for my Canada trip.

If you haven't ordered a 150-400 yet, he said it might be a year before you get one. They just haven't made enough to supply the demand yet. If it's the 100-400 you're after, then you'll be luckier.

No the 150-400 I took it they were saying it would take 6 months to catch up with the back orders.
It's not that big an issue I will mix and match with my Canon gear just means a bigger bag.

Was going through photos from a couple of years back. OMD-1 II 300mm f4 with a bit of cropping and Denoise. A lucky capture spotted on a neighbouring property.

The message on the zoom forum was that if you haven't ordered one yet, it will be at least 12 months before you do get one.

Excellent detail on the shot.
Is there a bit of a blue halo just alongside the curved part of the back?
Yep due to the original background layer being very dark and messy I think ..... its all very much in the suck it and see realm at the moment .. certainly getting a very good response on flickr for most of the shots .. just doesn't work with every shot and also very time consuming to get right .. as here the original lighting seems to impact things a lot
