I feel this would be much stronger in portrait mode, even with the reflection. I like the chosen exposure though.
•I agree with the orientation.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I was just trying to get a nice clean shot of the watch and didn't factor in the composition too much. The main problem I have when taking watch pictures is keeping the bracelet from folding. For this one I actually took a long strip of card and rolled it into a spiral/spring to stretch the bracelet out. In terms of getting it to sit correctly in portrait I wouldn't know where to start without a specialist stand/prop.
Thanks Dunc, I will look that up. It seems exactly what I need.
I'm off to look a few watches today so will ask if they have any spare. Worth an ask!
That's a beautiful shot by the way. Would love to see your lighting setup for that.
Wow that's a great setup Dunc. Those acrylic diffusers are great, I've just bought a small cheap tent but not got round to using it yet. I just wish I had the space to set up something permanent like that, I have to setup everytime I want to take a few shots which is a real pain as it's sometimes difficult to replicate my last setup.
I'm defiantly going to look into that Dunc. I also need to invest in some lighting. Can I ask if you used all 4 of those lights for that photograph? My photo above was just ambient lighting which is fine when when conditions are right but obviously uncontrollable when it's not right.
Hi Dunc:
What's the low down on the make of that watch you photographed please? Lovely looking watch, what is the make and kind of price?
Regards;
Pete
