This hopper was spotted by the wife on the Leycesteria shrub. Had time enough to get the camera out and position myself. Took 5, this was the closest focused shot, with a small crop post-processing for positioning in the frame.

Cheers Alf. It did actually face me straight on at one point but I couldn't narrow down the focus in time before it turned back to the side view!

Nice detail Paul. Do you ever/often pull back and do a hard crop to increase the DoF? (Sorry if I've asked this before. My memory is ... not very good :( )


I have been known to, yes - however, I generally just go with the flow when I find something and find I naturally start back a bit and then move in closer and closer, as far as I can, all at f/11.
