I waited longer for this image than many would deem sane, but I feel I was well rewarded.

Thanks guys for your comments.
I had lived in the same place for over twenty years, never seeing barn owls, then one evening when out in our fields I was photographing
deer, this barn owl appeared as if as out of nowhere, the owl continued to visit, quartering over the top field for about an hour at a time.
I was lucky to get several photographs and made the effort for the following evenings. He visited as far as I know for four evenings and even though I was out with my camera
virtually every evening he was he/she was never seen again, it was a thrill and I'll always remember those brief encounters.
Here's another photo I managed.

The image in the opening post appears to jump out of my screen, it has a real pop to it ... love it

Both are cracking images, I love the way the dark background sets off the bird

Thanks Martyn, your comments are very generous.

Second shot works for me - I like the sharpness on the owls face compared to the slight motion blur of the wing and all set off by that dark background - nice one!

Thanks fellas, appreciate your comments.
