This big old croc can be seen most days sunning on a sand bank in the Zambezi in Mana Pools National Park.
As you can see, there is a very sizeable chunk missing from the tail - I would estimate that the missing section is at least 2' wide, though I am at a loss as to what might have been responsible - it looks the wrong shape to be another croc, and whilst hippo-bite shaped, I am not sure a hippo really be able to remove a chunk like that with their teeth? Whatever, it must have stung a bit at the time.
