As U guessed it, not native birds to our shores :LOL:
They are from our Safari last year to Botswana on the Chobe river from a small boat.
Only just got brave enough to post them now ;)

Rested on a bean bag using a Canon EOS 1DS MKII, with a 100-400 Canon IS lens with a 1.4 converter

Yes I know what U are thinking of too, a Stone Curlew (y)

the kingfisher has a beak the same size as it's body (nearly)
 
Cracking pair of images, Dikkop is a new one for me, looks a bit like a foreshortened Stone curlew.

Yes the were, 560mm with the 100-400 X 1.4 converter.
