Both are very nice shot Dan, I prefer the first though, the look on the dogs face makes me think he is being neglected in favor of the laptop. I would alter it slightly as below.

Could I ask how you straightened the wall on the right? I've used lens correction in LR and it hasn't worked as well as what you've done!
