just wondering how to get the cleaned up...maybe cut a box around that section copy> paste new layer, then cut it down the join mark, move them about to fit then maybe try to blend the fixed part back in by deleting around it to fit the original below - maybe using the liquify tool to push it about a bit might help?

You can go back into PTAssembler and correct the alignment points to remove the error. Least someone that knew what they were doing could - not me

Exactly.
I didn't realise the error until someone recently pointed it out.
I've become so used to PTAssembler doing a perfect join, I didn't really check.
