Recording 10 bit on the cheap

I've been looking at external monitor/recorders so I can record 10 bit - but they're flippin' expensive. Is there a cheaper option - maybe a recorder without a monitor I've seen some devices without monitors but can't work out if they're what I need....

An Atomic Ninja Star is about your cheapest bet at around £100 -150 used. It will only do 1080p though. Alternatively you could hire one and see if it's worth the effort.
