Wild Red Grouse

Red Grouse (Lagopus lagopus) looks their best amongst heathers in bloom during this time of the year. Sadly, it is also the start of the shooting season of these beautiful birds. This one is surrounded by Ling Heather, photographed in the Yorkshire Moors. I particularly wanted to show the 'white'socks' that are often hidden in the undergrowth.
