I had in mind those early 1920/30's Russian Propaganda Posters.

A photograph I took in Silsden, Yorkshire today: with a bit of a twiddle and some text (it says Red Nail, Silsden Yorkshire). It's actually based on a sculpture of a giant nail - as apparently around the 1770's there were over 200 forges producing nails in Silsden...

The idea is brilliant, Geof, really, though I have two observations:
  1. The chosen Cyrillic typeface and kerning do not reflect the time
period, the ideology, nor the basic readability of the then posters.
  2. The red is a tad too saturated. In this days, such tones were not
    readily available in Russia.
I love it!

Nice work, as soon as I saw the shot I knew what it was. I took a shot of it for last year's 52's. I like what you've done putting the churches in the background too

Thanks Kodiak, I wasn't trying to recreate the posters of the time, rather capture the essence and feel in a modern way.

Thanks Tilly, luckily it was a Sunday afternoon so the carpark was empty, I'd been up to Earl Crag photographing Wainman's Pinnacle and Lund's Tower.
