Red Squirrels, Formby

A trip to Formby over Easter gave me a chance to try out my new camera. There's no shortage of this type of shot here on TP, but I would welcome feedback and comments.

The reds move a lot faster than the greys I have in the garden at home and found it a good challenge to track with the 70-200mm and 1.4 convertor. I didn't have any nuts to attract them so I had to wait until they came into range - I need more practice.

They are beautiful animals but as you say not easy to photograph. I am no expert but the first is a bit soft and the second is missing a part of the tail and the backgrounds in each case are a bit cluttered. I have found it better to take them when they are above the ground. Even so impressive shots.

Thanks for your feedback Archie, I agree with your comments - I have work to do!

I will bear in mind the idea of shooting them in the trees next time I get up to Formby.
