Wild Red with Ticks

Seems there are a lot about this year, they are doing a survey thing down this end of the country
 
The last pheasant I saw up close was just covered in them. The animals soon lose condition once the ticks start to build up on them. One of the good things about sheep is that they 'mop up' ticks wherever they graze.

I'm sorry to see ticks on these bonny wee critters.

Shame to see it with those horrible things on it Charlie, the population recovering up there mate?
 
Thanks for the comments folks. I agree Ticks are nasty things, came on a fella sleeping in the woods the other morning, no tent just a sleeping bag. Wonder how many ticks he picked up! Fracster, numbers are on the up again but still a few gray ones about. We now have squirrel leprosy just along the way about 3 miles off. Hope it does not spread along here.
