At least I think that's what they are, spotted at Martin Mere on Saturday. I did wonder about the first as it was the only one I saw with a white head like this.
Ruffs are widely variable in their plumage colours, especially the males in summer. Looking at the bill colour I think the first and last may be males starting on their breeding plumage.
I've only ever seen full breeding plumage on the captive birds at Slimbridge. Their displaying is fascinating to watch, especially the interaction between the dominant and subservient males.
