Safari in SA - the birds

hello,

i'm not a regular bird photographer but these were great fun to take, so i'm sure i'll get some more.

nikon d70 and old nikkor 300mm f2.8

1. Weaver bird

2. Many weaver birds, and their nests


3. Widow bird

4. Violet Backed starling

5. Not sure what this is. maybe a scrub robin?

do these really count as birds? at least they made me laugh, what are they doing on a beach in the sun, must be lost.

Great set.
I love seeing some of the more exotic species from around the world.
The Widow bird is superb... Not sure how it manages flight with them short wings and incredibly long tail though!

3 is my favorite, although, most of my friends just flick past it when looking at the set. you never can predict what the non-photogs will like eh!
