Saturday 19 May could be a good day to be out with the camera. Why? There's a big wedding on in Windsor.

This means all the grans and grandads will be in front of the telly with their little princes and princesses. The millenials will all be having street parties and barbies. Excellent news.

This means that the more popular photoenic spots will be largely free of grockles. Excellent chance for a meet to get shots without milling crowds.

So, where do we all fancy going?

TBH I just don't think people gives a dam about this wedding. No one I know cares, so I think it'll be bad time to head anywhere because folks want to get away from the charade.

Well I thought that too.
Then I heard SWMBO talking to next door and they seem to be planning watching it over a bottle of wine. And they are fed up with all the hype, so I thought if everyone else is like them....

Then I found out it's the FA Cup Final at 5.15 so reckoned the shaven headed brigade would be in the pub from noon learning the names of the players in the Man Utd team that they have supported since childhood.

But it will rain anyway!!!

You going to the steam fair?

I'm free this weekend. Was thinking of maybe Oulton Park for the bikes. Could be wet. Could be interesting. Fancy it?

Cancelled? What? The steam fair near Preston this weekend has gone belly up because the fields are too wet. I was meaning the one at the colliery. They do trips underground at other times!!!!!

Don't fancy morris dancing.
If you fancy meeting at Oulton Park move to PM.

No idea. Forecast is not good so that will weed out a lot.
Try starting a meets thread and see what response you get.
Racing proper starts at 11.20 with practice before that.
Meet at 10.30 in time for a bacon bap and coffee? Meet by the bacon hut in front of the main cafe?

Well judging by the marketing extravaganza in the weekend papers this wedding will suddenly explode and for the week leading up to it I reckon we will get saturation coverage. It might even knock Brexit off the headlines. I still think there will be a lot of telly watching on the Saturday.
The do at the old colliery mentioned above seems favourite at present.

You're in Warrington are you not? Easy for you to reach???

Whats parking like at Oultan Park ?
M
Never been, might be fun to tag along.
Not Sultan Park. Your edit was too late for the email notification.
We went today. Low key event so no real pressure.

Going back next Saturday with BIL. British Superbikes. The big boys. They will test your panning skills. Parking will be more regulated but there's plenty of it and it works well. Crowds will be a bit big too even though it's only practice day. Racing is on Bank Holiday Monday. Steer clear of that.

If you want to come next Saturday let me know. We can meet up there. It's OK down there.

Will let you know later in the week, I'm in a hire car at the moment and won't get my car back until Wednesday when the hire car goes back. Then mine needs an MOT so this week is a bit up in arms.

I have a Northern Rail ticket that can be used until 17th June 2018

It allows travel anywhere on the Northern Rail line for 1-day cost per person is £7.00

The conditions are I need to purchase 1 - 4 tickets in a single transaction so I could purchase 4 tickets come from Kirkham station pick you up at Preston then 2 others further down the line of travel.

No dates sorted as yet.
No venue sorted as yet.
I have two tickets that give free entry to the Ellesmere Port Waterways Museum. I thought of going there then over to the wrecks at Heswall. Wellies are a must.
That I'd provisionally pencilled in for 19th.
12th I was thinking of Lakes. I have a project in the high hills but it needs good weather. Weather like today but not on a Bank Holiday with all the grockles.
Nothing set in stone as yet.
Went back to Oulton Park yesterday. That was several notches up from last weekend.

Really I'm waiting for a suggestion. You any ideas? Trains from Preston early Saturday are OK by me.

Where are the bike pics?
There's one each from last week and this on my Flickr. Getting the hang of this panning.
Used back button focus for the first time yesterday. That was an experience!

So where will this meet be. And when?
Wouldn't dream of taking you into the hills: high or low. Mind you...might be an easy way to get a ride in a helicopter:eek:

@Billy
What about Leeds?
For The Armouries?
No tripods!

Or

What about York?
For the Railway Museum?
Free entry to both!

Would prefer 26th.

We can go to Newcastle, I've never been there but I've no idea how long the journey is?

Both Leeds & York are good but very busy

Newcastle? ??
You're avin a larf aren't you.
From Preston it's a three hour journey. Change at Carlisle onto a stopper.
Main interest is the bridges and the river and they look best at night.

However.....see if you can get trains to get us there by 10AM and leave at 4PM. Don't think Northern go up to Carlisle though they might do the cross country bit.

Alternative is via Manchester and Leeds or York.

I'll come if it's doable and not too pricey.

Why won't Newcastle be busy?

Here you are. Trains to Newcastle>>>
newcastle.JPG

That's pricey to me.
Some of the changes are messy too.
Be easier to drive up there, and quicker in your car; but cheaper and slower in mine!!!

We've done Windermere by train.
Up to Oxenhope then onto the single track line to Windermere. Works well.
What makes you think that Windermere won't be busy on a Bank Holiday weekend?
