Very well taken and composed image.
I'll echo what others have said - the light hitting the distant hills is sublime!
Great drama in the sky too.
As roundabouts go, this is one of the most interesting with the sculpture in the middle.
Very nice work Joan.
You've captured some lovely light on those distant hills, Joan, and I think the way you have included the foreground details helps to convey the sense of how far distant they really are
Great image Joan!
I love the reflections in the ice, and the colours work well too.
Nice bit of light on the left side bank, and the use of the bank as framing is very effective.
As with the previous comments, this scene really does capture the essence of 'cold'. The snow, the texture of the ice on the water and the reflection combine well.
Don't worry about repeating images someone else has already posted, as your version is bound to be a different take even if it's the same subject (unless you're standing right next to them )
Your shot certainly sells the idea of cold. I was pondering the idea of a polarizing filter to reduce reflections, but that might reduce the impact of the ice.
A very interesting and creative take on the theme.
Who would have thought that watching paint dry could be so interesting!
Good detail in the tin, and very nicely composed.
Nice work Joan.
Yes, maybe B/W would fit this image. Still a great idea. I thought there would be lots of 'people waiting' shots, but quite a few have thought out of the box. This being one of them, so
Hehe, like the take on the theme
Like Allan and Bob, I think I might have gone with a mono version (but then again maybe you tried it and preferred this?)
What a great idea. I think the colour version is fine as you can see the details in the skirting board. Not sure it would show up so well if the image was in black and white. Nice shadows as well.
It is a shame you cut the head off but I still really do like this image Joan, he does look rough and ready and also like the graininess in the image and mono too is great
Wow! Fantastic image!
Understandable why you wished to preserve his anonymity....I wouldn't want to upset him either, he looks quite tough!!
A great portrait with superb processing.
Jolly nice work Joan.
I'm really happy with it I must admit. It was a fairly spontaneous shot, not what I first had in mind for the theme. And he's a great guy! It looks even better at full size.
