Scottish Thistle

Nice image Mike but for me there is just too much background distraction. All the bits of other thistles coming in from the side draw your eyes away from the main subject, perhaps an easy clone job would sort it ?

Yes, I did think that.
At the time of processing I thought it better to leave them in as these thistles grow in clusters and the thorns show that.
Bad judgement on my part :banghead:
 
Hard one to call. IMO the OOF bits in the background aren't a problem at all but the sharp (sorry, no pun intended!) bits poking in from the side are a distraction from the main subject.
