With the sun still relatively low in the sky even at noon, I've been taking advantage of the long shadows it casts on bright days to make some photographs over the last few weeks.
I enjoy the abstraction that shadows offer and also that they are fleeting in their nature; you can come back to the same spot only a short time later and see completely different effect as the light changes both its direction and hardness. There is always something new to discover even if you have visited the same location many times.
Monochrome is second nature to me, and a b/w treatment suits the theme to a tee IMO.
If I had to highlight one thing that delighted me, it would be the slight changes in the tone of the shadows from the legs of the chairs in #2 - the width of a chair is enough to introduce a little softening of the shade in those cast by legs toward the right of the frame.
I think these were all taken with either a 50mm or 55mm lens.
