I had the flash gun positioned to the left of the snake as we look at it, which cast the shadow on the right hand side. Had I had more time I would of set a light stand to the left with a second flash gun.
 
Slightly off topic, it reminds me of that film The Abyss, where near the end the water splits. See the line across the base that's in focus, kinda gives that effect with the snake's head punching through! Has got me thinking about some creative fun that can be had with a shallow DOF!
 
Nice image..pimburas stay a nice size though..nowhere near the size of burms..

Yeah they are definitely a lot lighter than burms and grow a lot slower which is handy when it comes to buying vivs.
 
Quite a cool shot, did you buy this one in Bristol recently?
Just wondering if its one of the same ones Ive snapped lately.

It's not mine but there is a good chance it's the same one you have photographed. There aren't too many of these about.
